SQUADRON OF THE MINISTRY OF INTERIOR - CHANGING OF THE GUARD

The Squadron of the Ministry of Interior of the Slovak Republic (or the Aviation Unit) is the Slovak government´s airline seated in Bratislava. Its main base is at Bratislava Štefánik Airport. The squadron was established on 1st January 1993.
The squadron fleet includes following transport aircraft and helicopters(as of 10 May 20017):
- Airbus A319 OM-BYA
- Tupolev Tu-154 OM-BYO
- Fokker 100 OM-BYB + OM-BYC
- Bell 429 OM-BYD
- Mil Mi-17 OM-BYH + OM-BYU
That is what the basic information says (wikipedia). What we cannot read there is the amount of work done by the squadron members and flight hours flown for the Slovak government.
Until recently the squadron fleet had been based on Russian aircraft only - for transport aircraft and helicopters as well. Evaluation of their reliability and the neccessity of their replacement should be left with experts. We would like to invite you to the unique aviation parade of the current fleet of the Squadron of the Ministry of Interior of the Slovak Republic.
SYMBOLIC FLYOVER - FAREWELL TO Tu-154 OM-BYO
The organizers of the biggest aviation event of the year in Slovakia SIAF 2017 in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior of the Slovak Republic have prepared for you on 26 - 27 August something you wouldn´t see very often.
Those of you visiting Sliač Airport at the last weekend in August will have a chance to raise your hands in farewell and wave goodby to the flyover leading aircraft - Tu-154. The aircraft is retiring after long period of service and its last flight is scheduled for 27 August 2017. After the flyover the Tupolev will be heading for its last destination - the Museum of Aviation in Košice.
OLD AND NEW
The flyover formation will also consist of the Tupolev´s “replacement“ Airbus-319, the replacement of Jak-40 - the aircraft Fokker 100 and the new helicopter Bell 429.
So, the only chance to see in the air the aircraft and helicopters used for VIP flights, but also for evacuation of our citizens from endangered zones if needed, transport of injured people and patients or casualties as well as for transport of our soldiers and policemen to abroad missions is to visit Sliač Airport on 26 - 27 August 2017.
